BRITISH COLUMBIA AMATEUR BOXING
HALL OF FAME
Alan Brown was a boxer from British Columbia
and began as a junior in BC at the
Campbell River Eagles Boxing Club
and then joined the newly formed
Gold River Boxing Club founded by Monty Brown.
Alan was a junior national champion in 1980 and 1983
He would also train an the Shamrock Boxing Clu
in Vancouver and the Nanaimo Boxing Club

AMATEUR BOXING HALL OF FAME
The 2013 Photo Parade: by brian zelley
* Selected in the Pioneer category in 2013 was vic murdoch
who joins previous pioneer member Tommy Paonessa.
* Selected in 2013 for the All Rounder category was Derrick Hoyt.
Derrick joins past all-rounders from 2011 and 2012 which includes
Lennie Walters AND Roger Adolph.
Gordie Lawson during his active amateur
days with the Firefighters boxing club.
Later, Gordie would turn pro after the
1980 BC Golden Gloves and have some
interesting fights including one in
New Zealand.
Later Gordie would coach boxint
in Terrace. BC

Derrick joins past all-rounders from 2011 and 2012 which includes

The Junior/Youth Category:
* For the junior/youth category the choice for 2013 was Mickey Griffin.
Mickey joins Allan Brown (2011) and Tony Duffy (2012) selections.
The Boxer Category - 2013 Inductees:
* the boxer category is for outstanding senior boxers of British Columbia.
The four boxers selected for 2013
included:
Gary Wood, Gordie Lawson
Jack Snaith and Sid McKinght.
These four represent a good
cross section of experience
and achievement by all four.
Gordie Lawson joined amateur boxing in 1967 and in his
first tournament would be a championship in the
1968 Silver Gloves. Sid McKnight would be part of the
Canadian Olympic boxing team in 1976. Jack Snaith
would also join the Firefighters boxing club after
Gordie Lawson. In the early Seventies he would join
the newly formed Nanaimo Boxing Club formed in 1971.
His big achievemnt was winning a Canadian title in 1973.
Jack would go on to join other boxing clubs in places
like Richmond, Williiams Lake and Comox. Gary Wood
was and outstanding amateur boxer for the
Campbell River Eagles boxing club, but would also
be part of the Nanaimo Boxing Club.

Women In Boxing:
*In 2012, the women in boxing category was introduced in the
British Columbia Amateur Boxing Hall of Fame with two
outstanding selections - Marg O'Reilly and Mandy Lapointe.
For 2013 three more outstanding nominees were selectee
Jeannine Garside, Linda Gigliotti and Theresa Taylor.
THE BUILDERS for BC AMATEUR BOXING
^An outstanding selection of builder for 2013 joins some of those
selected in 2010, 20112 and 2013
Wally Doern is still an active boxing coach
of the 2 Rivers Boxing lub in Quesnel, BC.
For a number of years Wall was inactive
due in part to work related demands, but
in 2009 Wally took charge to revive the
2 Rivers Boxing Club and have some
interesting achievements over the last
few years.
